Art Direction and Design for Volkswagen of America, 2000–2005.

For over five years (while at Arnold Worldwide in Boston) I served as an Art Director and Designer for Volkswagen of America on the “Drivers Wanted” branding campaign team on the Volkswagen Design Group. In studio and on location I directed hundreds of product and lifestyle photo shoots—with Bill Cash, Brian Garland, Planet Moore, Christoph Morlinghaus, Micheal Mclaughlin, Smari Asmundsson and others.

My design projects included brochures, ads, websites, infographics, promotions and environmental graphic design for showrooms and auto shows. When I started in 2000 the photography was still shot on film—long are the days of the photographer presenting a fresh Polaroid to the art director for approval. To test the photography while on shoots I would bring a small scanner with me—and then immediately scan the test images into my layouts. I still have many of the originals which I’ve kept for nostalgic reasons.
