Dan Vlahos is a Boston-based designer, artist, and educator. Dan’s multidisciplinary design work has been recognized by the AIGA, the One Club, and the Interactive Media Council, among others. His past clients include Volkswagen, Harvard University, Colby College, Duke University, Northeastern University, the New England Conservatory, Educators for Social Responsibility, the Fenway Alliance and Shepley Bulfinch. Dan graduated from MassArt in 2000 with a BFA in Graphic Design, and returned 15 years later to pursue his MFA through MassArt’s Dynamic Media Institute. Dan first began teaching in 2009 as a visiting lecturer in MassArt’s Continuing Education program and was promoted to a full-time Assistant Professor in 2016. In 2017 Dan began teaching graphic design as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Visual and Performining Arts department at Merrimack College. Dan’s interdisciplinary thesis work and ongoing research interests center upon learning experience (LX) design—the exploration of speculative multimodal interactive learning techniques in the context of assistive, peer and creative learning.
